Today, the Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced the Federal tax filing deadline had been extended from April 15 to July 15. Later in the day, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that New York would extend the state tax filing deadline to July 15, as well. We are actively monitoring all other state deadlines for potential extensions. These measures are being taken to help relieve the financial stress caused by the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

Sciarabba Walker would like to stress that filings and payments can still be made prior to the new deadlines. We plan to continue to work to file all returns as soon as possible in order to provide our clients with any potential refund they are due. Our office will operate with limited on-site staffing.

If you are unable to submit your tax documents to Sciarabba Walker in the coming weeks, we will continue to work with you past April 15 to meet the new July 15 deadline. If your tax filings have already been accepted by either the Federal or State government and you need to delay your payment, please let us know as soon as possible. You can read our statement on the announced payment deadline extension here.

Sciarabba Walker will continue to monitor all new information coming out of the Treasury Department to ensure our clients are receiving the highest possible level of service.
